Nova Blackburne used to be the world's greatest superhero, until a cataclysmic fight nearly cost her her life, resulting in her powers fading, and forcing her to become a normal citizen.
Or so she thought.
Months after the 'death' of Cosmic Star. Nova starts to discover her powers returning. But with her alter ego 'dead'. she is forced to become a new hero, and finally decides to join the Guild of Superheroes, accepting a position with a team of novice superheroes. While she enjoys the change in routine, she finds hiding the majority of her powers troublesome.
Especially as a dark power looms on the horizon, threatening the world without Cosmic Star in a way Nova never imagined possible.
With the villains threatening to start their own organization, Nova Blackburne finds herself torn between her two worlds, fighting alongside her team and trying to keep the world from finding that that she really is the world's most powerful superhero, Cosmic Star.
Some things are easier said than done.
As the city has more and more need for Nova to appear as Cosmic Star, she finds the life she had built up threatened as she is forced to continue to lie. To make matters worse, the Guild's psychiatrist seems to have taken a strange interest in her, causing a bit of friction between her and her boyfriend Gabriel Wolfhart. And there seems to be a new destructive supervillain trying to make his debut amongst the chaos.
Nova feels as though there is something far more sinister on the horizon, something that Cosmic Star might not be able to face, and she worries that this may be something that even the Guild might not be able to stop.
